Hillcrest Fine Wines is an independent, specialist, fine wine store – one of only a few in Hamilton, New Zealand. We sell a wide range of New Zealand and International wines, as well as specialty beers from many parts of the world and a selection of spirits, with special emphasis on Single Malt Whiskies.

Our point of difference is one of quality – we try to avoid stocking commonly available “supermarket” wines. Instead we endeavour to source interesting, high quality material from less well known vineyards that often make wine in smaller volumes. This is not to say that we have no overlap with larger outlets – we do indeed have some, for the convenience of those who want a known product. But if you are bored with the range available in your local outlet, then Hillcrest Fine Wines is the place to visit. You will find many wines you have not seen before – especially from overseas. We carry a range of Spanish and Italian wines that offer very high quality at very good prices. We offer, when available, unusual wines from Greece, Morocco and Lebanon to name but a few. We have a wide range of lesser known Australian wines, both red and white. We pride ourselves on knowing our product range and offering material that provides very good value for money. Our advice is free and informed.

We run regular specials offering competitive prices as well as offering discounts for bulk purchases. We publish a newsletter every second month, featuring current specials, tastings and offering information on many aspects of the trade.

We stock imported Belgian and English beers, plus the odd one from other countries as well – lines like Achel, Corsondonk, Kwak, Karmeliet, Grimbergen, Kapittel, Westmalle and more, all from Belgium: Fullers, Youngs, Wychwood and other ranges from the UK. These lines often come in small quantities so the stock changes a lot, but we do try to keep something interesting on the shelf at all times.  More familiar lines are also available: Windhoek from Namibia, Peroni,  Becks, Urquell from Czeck republic,  Corona from Mexico and others from time to time.

We also have access to some of the USA craft beers - spectacular products - not remotely related to the weasely commercial rubbish. Real beers. Stock varies with availability. Well worth a look.

From within New Zealand we stock the Emerson’s range from Dunedin, Renaissance and Moa from Blenheim , Tuatara from Waikanae, Epic from Auckland and several standard, local lines. Again, stock varies from time to time.

We carry a range of single malts; Laphroig, Lagavulin, Talisker, Ardbeg, Knockando, Highland Park, Bowmore, Glenfiddich, Strathisla to name just some. New to the range are some lower priced lines from Malts of Distinction. Bottled by Ian Macleod, the Dun Bheagan range offers examples of single malts, aged 8 years, from all the main single malt areas; Lowland, Speyside, Highland, Island and Islay. These allow you to explore the world of single malts without breaking the bank to pay for them. .
